چکیده

Otoliths are calcium carbonate (CaCO3) accumulations. Under the influence of different ecosystems morphological and chemical composition change. In this study, economically important two demersal fish species; European hake Merluccius merluccius (Linnaeus, 1758) Stripet red mullet (Mullus surmuletus Linnaeus, was examined. (Sagitta) belonging to these species have been studied both chemically morphologicall. Morphometric measurements otoliths (length, mm; width, area, mm2; perimeter, mm) in sagittal each made by Leica M125 tri-ocular microscope. analysis otoliths, strontium (Sr), magnesium (Mg) (Ca) trace element amounts, ratios Sr Mg elements Ca (Sr/Ca Mg/Ca) were determined. For micro-chemical ICP-MS used. The highest (24.92±9.57 mmol/mol) (26.17±1.81 values found otolith mullet. difference between (Sr) amounts for be significant (P<0.05). addition it that them amount is (P<0.001). shape indexes significantly species. Especially terms roundness (RD) aspect ratio (AR) results study provide information about habitats economic importance Since such studies can give habitat areas species, they tracking stocks, migration routes sustainable fisheries.

Research Article: Modeling the trajectories of growth and reproduction in European Hake (Merluccius merluccius, L. 1758) from the Sea of Marmara, Turkey

The study evaluated to model the growth and reproduction aspects of the hake, Merluccius merluccius, in the Sea of Marmara. On-board sampling was conducted on the commercial beam trawl fishery from February 2016 to January 2017. For the growth trajectories, using monthly length frequency data set, different methods were employed to improve parameter optimization. The variation of reproductive i...

Some characteristics of sperm motility in European hake (Merluccius merluccius, L., 1758)

The objective of this paper is to characterize some of the sperm motility parameters in European hake (Merluccius merluccius), which is considered to be a species with aquaculture potential. The total ATP, ADP and AMP concentrations were determined using high-performance liquid chromatography on hake sperm samples collected during the winter-early spring in the Bay of Biscay (France) (n = 22) a...

Aggregation dynamics and foraging behaviour of striped red mullet Mullus surmuletus in the western Mediterranean Sea.

Habitat-related heterogeneity of striped red mullet Mullus surmuletus heterospecific foraging assemblages was examined off the coast of Spain. Video-based focal-follows conducted on 122 M. surmuletus assemblages (446 total individuals) revealed an array of attendant species (n = 7) with composition linked to benthic habitat complexity; bare sandy substrata were characterized by homospecific gro...

Species richness and diversity of the parasites of two predatory fish species - perch (Perca fluviatilis Linnaeus, 1758) and zander (Sander lucioperca Linnaeus, 1758) from the Pomeranian Bay.

Pomeranian Bay as an ecotone is a transition zone between two different biocenoses, which is characterized by an increase in biodiversity and species density. Therefore, Pomeranian Bay is a destination of finding and reproductive migrations of fish from the rivers entered the area. The aim of the study was to compare parasitic fauna of two predatory fish species from the Pomeranian Bay, collect...
